Jakarta, May 24, 2025 — PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM), a copper exploration company, has been awarded the Bronze Winner at the 2025 Indonesia Digital Media Awards (IDMA) in the category of Best Corporate Social Media. The event is organized by the Indonesian Newspaper Publishers Association (SPS), a prominent media organization with 30 provincial branches and over 600 members. STM received this recognition for its transparency and creativity in sharing company information through social media during its exploration activities in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province.
This year’s IDMA gathered submissions from nearly 200 participants. IDMA is part of the SPS Awards, which this year is being held for the 16th time. SPS Chairman Januar P. Ruswita stated that the SPS Awards aim to encourage creativity among newspapers and other corporations in presenting and distributing information. “Our goal is to spark creativity in how content is presented so it becomes more engaging and relatable to audiences,” he said during the SPS Awards night at the Indonesian Press Council Building in Jakarta.
SPS Executive Director and Chair of the 2025 SPS Awards Organizing Committee, Lila Intana, congratulated STM on its achievement. “Congratulations to Sumbawa Timur Mining for winning the Bronze Award in the Best Corporate Social Media category at the 2025 SPS Awards. We, the committee of the Indonesian Newspaper Publishers Association Awards, hope that STM continues to stay passionate, innovative, and competitive in future events,” said Lila.
Social media is one of the digital channels STM uses to disseminate information. In addition to social media, STM also uses other digital platforms such as its website, intranet, email, and messaging apps. STM regularly produces and distributes content that is relevant, informative, educational, and human-centric. According to the company’s digital media performance report, this approach contributes to generating positive public responses and enhances STM’s visibility in the digital space.
STM’s Principal Communication, Cindy Elza, said that creating digital content and utilizing social media is part of the company’s commitment to information transparency. She emphasized that transparent communication helps build public trust and prevents the spread of misinformation about the Hu’u Project—STM’s copper exploration initiative.
“Our information transparency efforts go beyond digital platforms. We also regularly meet with stakeholders directly. We provide project updates to both central and local governments, as well as to nearby communities. Every year, we carry out phased socialization efforts to residents across 59 hamlets in Hu’u Sub-district,” Cindy said.
She added that digital media helps extend the reach of STM’s messaging to target audiences.
“We can reach people we don’t meet in person. Through digital media, they can still receive updates about STM’s activities, such as project developments, social and environmental programs, and educational content about exploration in general,” Cindy explained.
Cindy also expressed her appreciation to SPS for the award given to STM at IDMA 2025.
“We are deeply honored to receive this prestigious recognition. We hope to continue delivering important and engaging information to the public. Public trust and support are essential for us to continue growing and moving forward together,” she concluded.
The 2025 IDMA was held in conjunction with other SPS award programs, including the Indonesia Print Media Awards (IPMA), Indonesia Inhouse Magazine Awards (InMA), Indonesia Young Readers Awards (IYRA), and Indonesia Student Media Awards (ISMA). These awards are open not only to corporations but also to universities and institutions across Indonesia.
