Mataram, October 7, 2025 – PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM), a copper exploration company holding a 7th Generation Contract of Work, supported the success of the MotoGP Mandalika 2025 by providing one unit of helicopter as a facility for air transport and medical evacuation. The helicopter was stationed around the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, from the preparation period through the MotoGP event held on October 3–5, 2025.
MotoGP is the premier class of motorcycle racing world championship organized by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and promoted by Dorna Sports. MotoGP has been held in various countries. Indonesia first hosted MotoGP in 1996–1997 at the Sentul Circuit, West Java Province. After a 25-year hiatus, Indonesia regained the honor of hosting MotoGP in 2022 to the present, held at the Mandalika Circuit.
In addition to serving as an air transport facility, the helicopter is also a vital part of safety and medical protocols in international sporting events, including MotoGP. This facility is one of the main requirements that must be fulfilled by the organizers. The availability of a helicopter strengthens emergency health services for racers, crew members, and visitors who require prompt treatment and medical evacuation.
The Governor of NTB, Dr. Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, expressed his appreciation for STM’s support. “We warmly welcome the support of PT Sumbawa Timur Mining in ensuring the success of MotoGP Mandalika 2025. This helicopter is used for air transport and medical evacuation needs if required, thereby enhancing NTB’s readiness to host international events with high safety standards,” said the Governor on Monday (6/10).
He added that the support represents a good synergy between the industrial sector and the government. “This is a concrete example of how the industrial sector in NTB and we, the Provincial Government, can support each other for regional growth. MotoGP Mandalika is a major agenda with great potential to boost the local economy, therefore cross-sector synergy is important to maintain,” he said.
STM Principal Communications, Cindy Elza, expressed her gratitude to the Governor of NTB for the opportunity given. “We are grateful and proud of the opportunity given by the Governor, allowing STM to be directly involved in the success of MotoGP Mandalika 2025. We also congratulate the NTB Provincial Government and all parties involved for the success of this event,” she said.
STM’s support for MotoGP Mandalika, Cindy continued, aligns with the company’s ongoing efforts to develop NTB’s economy, where STM operates. “This support is one form of our participation in regional economic development, in addition to the programs we carry out in Dompu Regency, our operational area. This support also aligns with STM’s core value, Life Matters Most, so we are pleased to provide our facilities and expertise to help realize a safe and successful MotoGP Mandalika,” she said.
